Fly of the Month - February 2010

The Lairy Little Hopper is a simple fly to tie and features spun yellow deer hair, red or pink krystal flash body ribbed with gold wire. The fly is designed to pop across the surface when dry but will eventually become water logged and then skim just under the surface. Bass and Saratoga both love to eat this fly and it is my first choice fly for Saratoga. Tied on a Daiichi # 8 hook this is a real little beauty for our freshwater species when fished during the first light of dawn.
