The Black Basstard Bass fly is a new fly design based on some tried and true designs for trout that has been modified to catch Bass on the drop. It has a gold bead head, black rabbit fur wing and body with a black marabou tail, peacock herl head and tied with some white krystal flash. I took 10 bass last weekend with this little beauty. I use a slow double strip and then a good 5 second pause and this is when the bass strike. The fly must have enough movement from the rabbit and marabou to make the bass attack the fly.
Great fun on my new 5wt Taransky cane fly rod. We are heading out again this weekend to do it all again and take more photos of the fish and the fly.
